Center of excellence for HPC and Big Data -IBM
The STFC (Science Technology Facilities Council) and IBM have announced the creation of a HPC Centre for Big Data analytics.
The Hartree Power Acceleration and Design Centre (PADC) in Daresbury, Cheshire is the first UK facility to specialise in modelling and simulation and their use in Big Data Analytics.
The technology was part of the groundwork for the UK’s investment in the Northern Technology Powerhouse outlined by the former chancellor George Osbourne.
The goals of the centre is to boost performance while conserving energy to provide POWER-based systems to run more effectively thus improving operational effectiveness.
